Obituary
It’s with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Borowec on Thursday July 8, 2021 at the age of 92 with her daughter Marika by her side.
Anna was born in Zhuravtsi, Ukraine on October 12, 1928.
Anna was a devoted wife of Dmytro Borowec (pre-deceased) for 50 years. She was a loving mama to Marika Pidzamecky (Oryst), Donna Borowec (pre-deceased) and Stefan Borowec (pre-deceased). Cherished baba to Daria (Brandon Naylor), Olena (Rodrigo Paredes), Lesya (Allan McPhee) and Stefan (Heather Pidzamecky). Loving pra-baba to Tristan, Melanya and Sofia.
Prior to Anna’s illness, she was a very active member of the Ukrainian community and her church St Nicholas. She was part of the choir and helped with many functions with her effortless cooking skills making varenyky, cabbage rolls and her famous patychky. Her paskas at Easter were ordered in advance, and she had everyone asking for her recipe. She will be remembered for her family feasts, storytelling and beautiful angelic voice.
Anna will be sadly missed by friends and family in Ukraine and Canada. Special thank you to the staff at Ivanko Franko Care Home for the care of Anna for the last 6 years during her stay.
Visitation at Cardinal Funeral Home at 92 Annette Street on Sunday July 11, 2021 between 6-8pm with Panakhyda at 7:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church on Bellwoods Ave, Toronto.
Beginning June 30, 2021 the Bereavement Authority of Ontario is once again permitting visitations to take place that are open to the public. We must continue to maintain physical distancing, the wearing of masks and may not allow more than 30 guests at any one time. Once the maximum limit has been reached, we will ask any additional guests to kindly wait outside in a physically-distanced line until there is room to enter safely.
The service and final disposition details will remain private as there are still gathering restrictions in place due to the pandemic. In order to prevent more than the maximum number of guests allowed, the funeral service will be by invite-only and the family greatly appreciates your understanding during this difficult time.
