Obituary

Our Mom, Stavroula “Voula” Kamperogiannis, was a loving mother, loyal friend, plant whisperer and master of koulourakia and kourabiedes. Born on January 24th, 1955 in Mavria, Greece, she passed away peacefully in Toronto, Ontario on December 25th, 2020. She is survived by her brothers Chris and Theodore. Loved dearly by many, the memories she has left will forever be cherished and celebrated. Mom was a devoted mother, always there for her 3 children: Sotiria (George), Dimitra (Toni) and Eleni (Daniel). Also a proud grandmother, she loved spending time with and spoiling her four grandchildren: Iliana, Theodore, Oliver and Juliet. Friendship meant a lot to her. She cared deeply for her friends and treated them like they were part of her family. She was a beacon for togetherness. Her door was always open, the table was always set, and the food was always made with love. Her home was adorned with LOTS of plants and flowers that grew beautifully, as she showered them with love daily. Her green thumb was one of her many gifts, and if your plants ever needed a little TLC you called Voula! SHE MADE THE BEST KOULOURAKIA AND KOURABIEDES, PERIOD! Her skills in the kitchen were undeniable, and while we have big mitts to fill we aspire to be like her. Throughout her cancer journey, Mom encountered many challenges and setbacks along the way. Her positivity and determination remained unwavered. Mom’s devotion to her family and her faith served as her strength, persevering through it all for us. She was an incredible person whose strength, smile and sense of humour inspired everyone who knew her - she always made you feel cared for and loved. Ma, thank you for raising us to be like you: caring, loving and always there for others. We will always hold you close in our hearts and love you forever. Due to COVID restrictions, funeral services are private and viewing is by Invitation only. We appreciate your understanding. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations be made to The Geoffrey Ogram Memorial Research Fund in Voula’s honour to support Lung Cancer Research. Your Mom/Grandma was an extraordinary woman! I feel so fortunate to have been able to visit with her during her many visits to London. She was a beautiful, warm and caring woman who had a way of lighting up the room. Her love and pride for her family was so obvious and the way she watched her grandkids play melted my heart. I know that she will be closely keeping watch over all of you and filling you up with her love.

Dearest Dimitra. This is Sofia from John D Parker. I can still remember my moms saying your name endlessly because she was so very fond of you. I was never allowed to go to anyone's house but she let me come to yours once after meeting your beloved Mother. I can never forget the treats and presents her HUGE heart had ready for me while I was at your house and even when I left. It was so moving how thoughtful your Mother was. The loss of a Mother leaves you broken and torn for eternity almost. God bless both our mothers in heaven.
