Obituary
Maria Conceição Lourenco DaSilva was born on July 7, 1928. She was one of 12 children, they lived a difficult hard life in the Azores but they were such a close family that somehow they still found fun, love and laughter through these hardships. She left Azores in August 1965, 4 months pregnant for her 3rd child and with 2 young kids ages 2 and 5 to seek a better life with her husband in Canada. It was a scary experience not knowing what to expect but she truly came to love this country that she called home.
She always enjoyed sharing stories from back home of how her parents met and how she and her siblings lived. There was always a funny story to share with her children & grandchildren.
She endured her own hardship, especially when she lost her husband at a young age of 52 and she had to find ways of making ends meet and maintain the household to support her 4 children. Much later on she had to endure the loss of her eldest son at the young age of 53 as well. She always somehow found a way to overcome these difficult times.
She loved her entire family from her siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws to her 4 children and especially her 6 grandchildren. She would have done everything and anything that she could to assist on making them happy. She loved to make people comfortable and truly loved to laugh and have a good time. She always had sweet liquor shots ready for anyone coming to visit.
It became very difficult towards the end when her body started to give up but when her mind and heart was still very young. She was so used to being independent and managing her home, especially her garden until it became a huge struggle for her.
Her final wish was to have her family happy and successful so that she can finally be reunited with her husband and son and the rest of her beloved family.
She will be missed by all who know her. She will always be remembered for her smile, laughter and her selfless love to all around her.
May you rest in peace – God Bless
