Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anthony Lennart Kadak on Monday November 3, 2025 at the age of 65.

Anthony’s warmth, energy, and optimism were boundless, as was his love and deep pride for his children, Kevin and Hayley.  He was as close with his wide circle of lifelong friends as he was his family, with whom he loved to talk baseball, hockey, music, and to reminisce about days gone by.  His boisterous spirit would reverberate so that it was impossible not to feel his love and presence radiate as soon as he entered a room.

Anthony is predeceased by his mother Irene, his father Lennart, and his sibling Brandon/Marian.

He was a bright light that did not burn long enough.

Should you wish to make a donation in Anthony's honor, please consider the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

The Pimentel family extends our sincere condolences to Kevin and Hayley and all the family and friends who loved Anthony so deeply. The lifelong memories will ease the sorrow felt in the days ahead. Our family recalls the happy times spent "group" camping in the summers, gathering for annual holiday parties at each other's homes and the many celebrations over the years. May you find comfort and peace in the memories of happier times. With love, Lisa & Fernando, Alanna and Adam Pimentel.

So sorry to hear this tragic news. Anthony was such a kind soul. He was always jolly, outgoing and fun, just a great person to be around. He was a wonderful Hockey Coach to my son, Adam and his friends at Hillcrest Community School. The boys loved him, he was such a positive mentor for them. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Our deepest condolences to his family. Sending hugs

I first met Anthony Kadak in the 1980s when we were both students at university. By fourth year, we were living together, and those days remain some of my fondest memories. It turned out that his father had worked with my father for years and I knew his father from my parents parties. Anthony was jolly and larger than life, rotund in figure and explosive in personality. He had a gift for making people laugh, often breaking into funny voices or spot-on impersonations that left everyone in stitches. His sense of humour was unmatched, and his infectious laugh could light up any room. After university, we both found our way into the film location business in Toronto and later tried our hand at launching a series on classic cars. Life eventually took us in different directions, and for a time we lost touch. Years later, I was delighted to reconnect when Anthony became involved with a summer kids’ dance camp for at-risk youth in Calgary. Together we made several short films, and I was reminded once again of the warmth and generosity that defined him. The children adored Anthony. He had endless patience and a rare ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. I’ll never forget how he spent hours helping my son prepare for a Shakespeare soliloquy, coaxing out confidence and passion with that same gentle encouragement he gave to all who crossed his path. Anthony had a way of bringing out the best in people. I will miss him more than words can express. His laughter, his kindness, and his unwaveringly positive outlook on people and the world will stay with me always. The world feels a little dimmer without him, but I am deeply grateful to have called him my friend.

My heartfelt condolences to Anthony's family, and to all that are feeling the loss of a very warm and caring friend. I remember Anthony very well from Gr 9 to 13 at Oakwood Collegiate. We were both in the music program. I played flute, and he played french horn. He was so talented! He could certainly make that instrument "sing"! I will always remember his kindness, his smile and his witty comments. Never a dull moment when Anthony was around. May he rest in peace.

Unfortunately, I am tied down out in BC that day, I cannot be there in person. I will however be there in spirit. Rest in peace, my dear friend
