Obituary
Passed away on May 29, 2014 at St Joseph's Hospital in Toronto's west end. He is remembered by his wife Liz, his three daughters Michelle (Ken), Jennifer (Jeff) and Stephanie (Jessi), as well as their mother Christine Bilas, step-children Kerri, Brad & Rich. Deepest sympathies to his three sisters: Lidia (Bob), Helene (Bill) and Lacia (Al) and his long time friend Frank. Alex was affectionately known as "Boss Grandpa" by his granddaughters Emily and Kaitlyn, grandsons Austin and Jackson, as well as his six step-grandchildren (MacIntosh/Bejaoui). He will be remembered for his love for family, travel, food, wine, adventure, music, art, and other fine things. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette Street, Toronto. A Reception will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by a service at 3:00 p.m., with refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donation be made to: the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada for Glioblastoma research, Camp Oochigeas, or Free The Children’s We Day.Visitation

Liz, so sorry to hear about Alex, it was a pleasure to have known and worked with him for so many years. He loved life, and I am sure he will be missed by you and the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Sorry we didn't get the notice till after the service, sad time for you.

Never at a loss for words and always upbeat and energetic, Alex helped make it fun to be at work. He dealt with his illness with a courage and positivity that was admired by many. Our sincerest condolences go out to Liz and to all of Alex’s family and many friends.

Sincere condolences from Marko, Lesia and Debbie. I have fond memories of my cousin Oles. He was always quick with a joke and a smile. I enjoyed going to his cottage when I was young and seeing him when he would pop into my mother's store for a visit. I once received some hand me down suits he had made in Germany and a black leather jacket which I wore for years. He will be missed.

I am sure Alex will be dearly missed by all.
Alex was a trusted friend and loyal colleague who I had known for many years. I will always remember our travels together, especially our recent travels to China where Alex also had many friends.

I was truly saddened to hear about Alex. I had the privilege of working with Alex and I immensely enjoyed his love of life and his great tastes for both incredible food and wine. A lot of fantastic memories that I will certainly cherish. Rest in peace my friend.
