Obituary

May 28, 1983 – March 20, 2015 Pat Van Horne and Graeme Elliott are profoundly saddened to announce that our beloved son, Andrew, died suddenly on March 20th, just a few hours into the first day of spring. He was 32. Andrew had many gifts, but suffered for years from the effects of addiction and mental illness. He is survived by his parents, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada, the United States and Japan. Andrew maintained some lifelong friendships, people who stuck by him through good times and bad. He is also survived by a very special friend, Tiffany, who made his world a brighter place. We are heartbroken.

Dear Graeme and Pat, I can't tell you how shocked and heartbroken I am. Andrew was great fun to talk to over the phone a couple of years ago when we were both trying to figure out how to help my brother, whose best childhood friend he had been. I could have just talked to Andrew for hours, he was so smart and engaged. I am still so grateful for how Graeme and Andrew let my brother live with him when he was in between apartments. My strongest memory includes how Andrew told me of wanting to study psychology because of what he had learned about his own challenges. Its hard not to feel like I could have done more. And of course I could have, and should have. A bright light has gone out too soon. Be comforted by the fact he touched so many lives with his great spirit. My most sincere condolences. My thoughts are with you, Yours, Nicole Stoffman
