Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Guilherme Benevides de Sousa on Thursday, July 16, 2020; at the age of 92 years old. Born in the small town of Bretanha, Ponta Delgada; Sao Miguel Island in the Acores; Portugal.
Loving son of the late; Manuel Benevides De Sousa and Mariana Cabral Lindo.
Married to loving wife Mariana de Viveiros Miranda; for 66 years (Jan 30th, 1954). Emigrated from Portugal to Toronto, Canada in April of 1957 to start a new life and raise a family. He worked extremely hard in the construction industry for 40 years. A proud Portuguese Canadian who took his voting rights seriously. He loved his sports especially Soccer club Benfica (always played on the radio on the veranda) and his favourite hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens.
He had passion for gardening, making homemade wine and playing cards with friends. He was a soft-spoken, compassionate and generous individual. He will be greatly loved and missed by all who knew him.
He will be forever loved by his children:

6 grandchildren: Terry Pereira, Ian Pereira, Tanya de Sousa-Guinot, Bryan de Sousa, Raquel de Sousa Alves and Shawn Rosa
5 great-grandchildren: Phoenix (12), Rio (10), Aiden (9), Aynslee (7) and Madison (7) as well as several relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society in his name would be greatly appreciated.
