Obituary

Janice was a beautiful, kind, witty, thoughtful, dreamy, and creative soul whose life was cut short by her battle with cancer.   Born in Kaiping China, Janice moved with her family as a child to Charlottetown, PEI, where they ran the well-loved Golden Wok restaurant.    A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, Janice went on to become an award-winning professional illustrator.    Janice loved music, food, photography, travelling, and spending time in nature with her cherished friends.   She is survived by her best friend /partner Daniel Turner, her brother Jason, sister Julia, parents Richard & Yee, and adored nephew Jasper.   In lieu of flowers or gifts, we would like to ask for donations to set up an annual scholarship for a young art student to give them the same encouragement and acknowledgement that benefited Janice so greatly when she first ventured out from secondary school into the wider world. Dear Yee , Richard, Jason and Julia, No word can express our sorrow of the passing of a wonderful and remarkable young woman, Janice. We were stunned after hearing the news on Friday late evening. It hit me so hard and unexpected that I just could not fall in sleep. Janice was a marvelous dancer and student in my aboriginal dance and Chinese heritage language school. Everyone has known Janice and will always remember her smile , gentleness and kindness like an angel. Our deepest condolences, Monica, Alek, Bettina and Gregory

Uncle Richard, Auntie Yee, Jason and Julia - we are so incredibly sorry for such a tremendous loss. Janice was an exceptional woman in many ways as you well know. I pray that you take comfort in her no longer being in pain and I hope that you will get to share in some stories and beautiful memories that some of her close friends experienced with her too. She lived life well and shared her gift as a very talented artist with the world. Her art is literally all over the world with her work with Canada Post! Take good care of one another and take the time and space you need to grieve. Please let us know if there is anything you need. We welcome you anytime in Calgary. Much Love, Darlene Kun Holloway & Family

Janice was one of the first friends I've made since moving to Toronto 5 years ago. In her quiet yet thoughtful ways, she has helped me navigate and settled into this new city that I came to love. I'll forever cherish that time she threw me a little surprise bday birthday party at our Mando club gathering, along with a hand-drawn birthday card by her. She made me feel loved, and she'll forever be in our hearts!

Dear Richard, Yee, Jason and Julia: I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful daughter and sister. I imagine losing a child is one of the most painful things one experiences. Janice is free of pain now and hopefully you will be comforted by memories of and with her. Much love to you all. Stacey
