Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished Laura May Tynes. Laura died peacefully in her sleep at age 93.

She was born just outside of Kentville, Nova Scotia to Clarence and Catherine Bush where she was raised on their 20-acre farm. Laura became a Registered Nurse after training at Childrens hospital in Halifax. In 1955 she married Aaron Tynes and a year later their daughter Maura was born. Three years later the young family moved to Ontario where Laura worked as a RN until her retirement at age 63. Laura loved to travel and vacationed on the islands of Bermuda and Barbados on numerous occasions. She travelled across Canada, made many trips to Nova Scotia and visited multiple countries in Europe. Her travels also included a trip to the Holy Land, Japan, China and Thailand. One of her favourite places was her home in Port Credit. Laura loved the peace and serenity of water and because of her close proximity to Lake Ontario she spent many enjoyable hours visiting the nearby Pier.

A life well-lived.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, stepson Michael Drummond, her great-grandson, Dylan Powell, great-granddaughter Aaliyah McCluskey, and her niece Sue Cromwell who has provided excellent and loving care for the past four years. She was predeceased by her husband Aaron (1982), her grandson Nathan (2007), her daughter Maura (2019) and her siblings, James Bush, Alice Ross, Marion Cromwell and Myrtle Bush.

My sympathy and prayers to Laura's family and friends. I have many warm memories of Laura as we both worshipped at First Baptist Church, Toronto over the years. She was very helpful and supportive to me when I went through the passing of my husband and parents. She always had time to listen to my tearful moments. Rest in peace dear Laura .. heaven has gained another angel. Love and Prayers; we will meet again.

My sympathies to family and friends. Aunt Laura was the “Cool Aunt” who was always full of fun and positivity. Her warm hugs and welcoming smile will always be a cherished memory.
