Obituary

Margit Sándor Born in Budapest on January 14, 1923 to Ödön and Amalia Gábor. Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s hospital July 17, 2016. Beloved mother of George and Leslie (Nadia). Dear grandmother (Nagymama) to Kinga, Eniko, Hunor, Mark and Luke. Margit and her much loved husband, Kálmán, immigrated to Canada following WWII, raised a family and became devoted to their new community in Toronto. Margit was a talented pattern maker and cutter of skating costumes for international competitors, including Olympic champions. Her skills extended through a full range of period to contemporary costuming for CBC Television and Canadian theatre productions in a distinguished career which spanned the 1950’s through to the 1990’s. Margit’s generous nature and strength of character will be sorely missed by many. Dearest Leslie, Nadia, Mark Luke and Family: Our hearts go out to all of you – Margit will be dearly missed but her spirit remains in everyone’s hearts and she will live on in her family. She has left you all with her great love, and her legacy is the very precious memories you hold in your hearts of your Mother and Grandmother. Your beloved Mother and Grandmother (Nagymama), was a special person who indeed was sent into this world to make it more beautiful. And she did it. She left this world peacefully with her family’s love surrounding her. We pray and believe that she is united with her loved ones, and she is in the Lord’s Kingdom where there is only peace, joy and love. In everlasting memory of a dear and great lady, of a beautiful soul. Our deepest condolences to you and to your Family. Sharing in your sorrow, with love and friendship always. Bilas Family
