Obituary

Antonio was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Antonio passed away suddenly on Thursday November the 21st at the age of 81 at Baycrest Hospital in Toronto. His heart accepted him into Heaven.

Antonio was born on February the 14th, 1943 to parents Mariano DaCosta Peixoto and Maria Dos Aujos Madeiros Peixoto in Vila Franco Du Campo, Açores along with his two sisters Grace and Emelia.

He is survived by his four children; Raymond Peixoto (Teresita Derramas), Anabella Peixoto (Jimmy Costa); Nelson Peixoto (Martha Peixoto) and Diana Reedie (Matt Interbartolo) and eight grandchildren; Melissa, Jennifer, Justin, Alex, Callum, Aidan, Mason and Mateo.

Antonio was married in 1967 in Portugal to his wife Venilde. They moved to Toronto, Canada in 1972, with their two children at the time Ray and Anna. Antonio retired and worked hard making windows and doors for many years at Mason Windows. Antonio woke up early every morning, walked to the bus stop, and took the subway 26 stops only to be picked up by another bus to take him to Pickering to start work. Many times, he would take on odd jobs and evening jobs to support his family. He lived to support his family.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow. In his younger years, he was always eager to help family with renovations and construction. He loved having company over and at parties was always smiling and laughing with a glass of wine in his hand. We will all miss that smile.

Antonio went into retirement and side effects from his prostate cancer worsened his ability to be mobile. Antonio was a stubborn man, but a passionate hardworking man who wanted what was best for those around him, always trying to do more than he could. He would always say “its ok..” He just wanted everyone to be happy. A great quality he passed down to all his children.

To a caring husband, Dad, Brother, Tio, Padrinho, “VooVoo”, and friend; You will always be in our hearts. May you rest in peace with God and Mom.

Dear Anna, Jim and family, we were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your Dad. We never got the chance to meet him but, by hearing all your stories, your wonderful memories and seeing how your eyes smile whenever you talk about him tells us that he was a remarkable person whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of so many. Sending you love and strength during this difficult time. May the memories of your Dad bring you comfort and peace. Try to remember through this very difficult time that he is now in heaven, in peace and together with your loving mother, his beautiful beloved wife. We are all here for you. The Arvanitis family 🙏

It is with a sad heart to hear of Antonio's passing. He was always a kind soul. I will never forget his love of soccer and watching the game on television. He was a great grandfather to all of his grandchildren. Alex spent many times hanging out with vovo as a kid in the basement playing while he was watching soccer. You will be missed and remember. With much love and prayers Lilia.
