Obituary

Arthur Martins, born on September 7, 1930 in Serra do Bouro, Portugal. It is with heavy hearts that we announce Arthur Martins passing on January 8, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Maria Alice Martins who stood by each other for fifty years. Adored and giving father of Joe Martins. He will be remembered by his daughter-in-law Susan and by his three grandchildren Jason, Melissa and Kyle.  Loved by his niece and nephew, Alice and Antonio. As well as his late sister-in-law and late brother-in-law, Maria and Jesovino.

Arthur was a devoted family member and his passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. Immigrated in 1955 with hopes of a new and better path for him and his family. He will be remembered for his passions of making wine and tending to his vegetable garden. He was a simple man who loved his traditional Portuguese heritage. He loved visiting his home country Portugal and connect with his friends and family. We are greatful for the memories and the love that Arthur brought into our lives. We will always cherish him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Arthur Martins name to the Alzheimer Society.

It's with a heavy heart that i offer my deepest sympathies to your family at this very sad time. I feel privileged to have known such a nice and humble person. Even as a child i enjoyed his visits to our home. He always made me feel welcome to join the grown ups' conversation and not diminish it as childish. He was a delightful person and i am sure you will find solace in memories of good times together.

Dear Joe and family, sorry for your loss, I have known your dad since he came to Canada with mine (Francisco David). My husband also got to know him well and we both liked him very much. Sorry we cannot be there but my husband is battling "multiple myeloma" and has chemo and several other treatments and tests at Sunnybrook this week. We will always think of those days when they would meet at 10 Sully Crescent.
