Brian Ellis McCarthy

September 20, 1970 to September 27, 2021

Peacefully at home following a long battle with crohns. Loving husband of Alina for 22 years. Caring father of Zachary and Brandon, who will miss him dearly as Brian was involved in every aspect of the boys lives including Hockey, Taekwondo and volunteering at numerous school activities. Courageous son of Gordon and Mimi McCarthy. Hero/Brother of David (Mervi), Lori (Dale), and Brenda (Allan). Nephew of Don (Terry), Bette-Jean Bunny (Bruce) and Bob (Jane). Brian will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Brian’s love of his family was the true focus of his life. In lieu of flowers donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Brian, words can not express how devastated I am today. Growing up with you was never a dull moment. From the toothpaste, Flanders Fields, the watermelon basket & the "hills are alive with the sound of music", and the broken living room window will be forever etched in my heart and mind. Those late-night visits to help with my homework when Alicia and Amber were little wee (we had no internet or cell phones in those days lol). Sucking it up and going to the New Kids on the Block concert with me so both kids got to go. Always there to rely on when I needed to cry or scream you always managed to provide comic relief. You always showed your support for my girls whether it was to see them swim, sing or play soccer. I so appreciated that you were that special person in my girls' lives where they felt safe and could talk to, cry to and laugh with. You grew up into a wonderful man and role model for not only my children but your own. Your support never wavered for me. You always told me how proud you were of me and all of my accomplishments. You always worried about me burning the candle at both ends. You would stay up and talk and or text all night with Alicia, Amber, or Arielle when they needed you. BUT never once did you complain that you were up all night with no sleep, in pain every minute of every day. I am truly grateful to have had 51 years to share with you on this earth Brian and I look forward to eternity with you when the time comes. You will always be in my heart and soul. It is so long for now but never goodbye. Rest in peace my brother! I love you to the moon and back! xoxo Ali, Zachary and Brandon. Love you all xoxo

Dear Alina and your boys. I knew the McCarthy's in Temagami, worked with Gord and watched their children growing up. I always remember Brian with the biggest smile. There is no way I can say that I understand what you are going through but I do understand it's horrible right now. I'm sending you my deepest condolences and ((Hugs)) in your horrible time right now. I've asked the Angels to surround you and your boys with love, peace and comfort. Sincerely Brenda McLennan

Dear Gord and Mimi There is no way I can walk in your shoes because no parent should have to bury a child. My Scott is the same age as Brian was and I now how I worried about him when he would have to work in Sao Paulo Brazil where they couldn't wear a watch or show their phones because they could be killed and robbed for these items. But you have lost your son and I feel so badly about that. I remember the story you told me when he was a baby and how you cared for him then. Please accept my deepest condolences and love. May the angels surround you with love, peace and comfort. Sincerely Brenda McLennan

God Father Don, Uncle Don, Brother Don, Don with Terry, want to express our heartfelt , heart wrenching profound sadness at the passing of an amazing Man. Brian was a caring, loving, funny, nurturing, athletic, awesome Human Being, we lost still too soon. Crohns tried to take Him, but he fought and fought, such a good fight, until the Lord said Enough. He left this world, a better Man than most! Please Rest In Peace Brian. We Love You and Miss You!

Mimi, Gord and family, it was a great shock to hear of Brian’s passing. We remember those ole Temagami days with all the good times. So many kids of Brian’s age and so many happy recreational events. The school and arena were the hub of many special events for the kids and their families. Brian’s infectious smile and twinkle in his eyes were a give-away to the many childhood pranks of the era. Thinking of you all, the Prefasi family: Ron, Suzanne. Kirstin, Kelly and Alexandra.
