Obituary

Wayne MacInnis, age 62, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021 due to complications of cancer. He was born March 24, 1959 in Ingersol, Ontario.

Wayne loved to love on people. He always made sure everyone was comfortable and happy at all times. His warm and gentle smile would comfort those in need. He loved Dolly Parton, and his face would light up anytime she was mentioned. His life was a living example of “If you see someone without a smile, give them yours” spoken from his favourite singer Dolly.

He worked for the Ontario Government at Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) for 30 years, where he was the manager, assistant director and acting director. He was solely responsible for the entire regional office of approximately 120 staff members including support services and clinical services and supervised six managers. He had devoted himself to the board and accomplished many difficult projects. He had made significant contributions to the success of the units he worked for. Worked on the Leadership Committee and co-facilitated several workshops on leadership competencies for the management team. As co-chair of the staff management and Relationship committee he guided the development of the Staff Milestone Recognition Celebration.

In the next chapter of his life he was a co-founder of Attix Pharmaceuticals and Darmerica. It suited his servant heart. He treated colleagues with respect and his employees as if they were his children. He recognized those in need and always extended a lending hand. He often called employees to congratulate them on their achievements and let them know how proud he was of them.

His life will always be remembered as a humble, gentle human being who sacrificed his life for the betterment of those around him. Wayne is survived by Syveon David Liu (His business partner and best lifetime friend), Marlon Feng (Adopted nephew), Brenda Liu (Adopted daughter), Larry Pinard (His best friend for 40 years) and Steven MacInnis (His Brother).

This is such a sad time. I met Wayne when he first came to Toronto in 1978. I recognized in him a very kind and gentle person who was always 100% honest. Since I moved to Montreal, I haven't had the pleasure of his company for some time, yet I still consider him to be a good friend. My condolences to David and the family.
