Obituary

In Loving Memory of Eduardo Manuel Rebelo Andrade (1948-2026).

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eduardo Manuel Rebelo Andrade on June 6, 2026, at the age of 77, following a courageous battle with colorectal cancer. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always.

Eduardo was the eldest of 9 children, and was born in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores, Portugal. He enjoyed a happy childhood and often spoke fondly of Dourado, the horse he loved and cared for while growing up. Those early years instilled in him a deep appreciation for hard work, responsibility, and the simple joys of life. He also developed a lifelong passion for soccer and remained a loyal supporter of S.L. Benfica throughout his life, proudly following the team and celebrating its successes.

In November 1965, Eduardo immigrated to Canada with his family in search of greater opportunities and a better future. Through hard work, determination, and sacrifice, he built a life rooted in family, perseverance, and gratitude. He never forgot his Portuguese heritage and carried his values of faith, family, and community throughout his life.

Eduardo leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Maria Jose Andrade, whose partnership, love, and devotion were the foundation of a remarkable life together. He was a proud and caring father to his three children, Odette, Richard, and Christopher, who will forever cherish his guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love.

He was also a loving father-in-law to Neemal and Anne who he welcomed into the family with warmth and affection.

Eduardo is also survived by his loving siblings, Messias, Carlos, Herman, Connie and Zenaida. He shared a lifelong bond with his brothers and sisters, and treasured the memories, support, and family ties they maintained throughout the years.

Nothing brought Eduardo greater joy than his family. He was a devoted grandfather who adored his grandchildren, Kalisha, Ethan, Dylan, Tristin, Mia and Lucas. He took great pride in watching them grow and flourish. His love, encouragement, and presence will remain in their hearts forever.

Throughout his life, Eduardo was known for his resilience, generosity, and deep commitment to those he loved. Even during his six-month battle with cancer, he faced each challenge with courage and dignity, inspiring those around him with his unwavering strength and determination.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in the many memories he leaves behind the laughter shared, the lessons taught, and the love he gave. Eduardo's legacy lives on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Eduardo will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

May he rest in peace.
