Obituary

Francisco Furtado Leite passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Toronto Western Hospital on September 16, 2024 in his 94th year.

Beloved husband of Fernanda. Dear father of Bernadette (John) of Brampton, Ontario, Canada and Tony of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Loving grandfather of Jonathan (Denise), Alex (Amanda), Jared, and Ethan. Great-grandfather of Elias, Christophe, and Rosalind.

Francisco was a quiet man who took pride and comfort in his family and always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was Fernanda’s constant companion during their 70 years of marriage, and after his retirement from a 30 year career with the Canadian National Railway Company, he, together with Fernanda, very much enjoyed the numerous yearly train trips throughout Ontario and Quebec and summer visits to their home village in the Azores. Francisco enjoyed the simple pleasures in life – taking long walks with Fernanda along Toronto’s lake shore and tending to his backyard grape vines and garden. He will be greatly missed.
