Obituary
Served with the Polish 1st Armoured Division (Dywizja Pancerna). Recipient of Virtuti Militari medal for bravery. Former owner, with his wife Wanda, of Fortuna Flower Shop. Peacefully at Copernicus Lodge on Monday, August 31, 2009. Age 94. Beloved husband of Wanda Skierniewski. Dear father of Sophie Ringrose (James) of Campbell’s Bay, Quebec, Helen Zulys (Nicholas Baker) of Toronto, Ontario, and Frances Hachborn (Malcolm) of Barrie, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by 9 grandchildren: Christopher, Julian, Stephanie and Donna Ringrose; Matthew and Richard Zulys; and Danielle, Ellen and Gillian Hachborn. Predeceased by an infant son, Albert and by 7 brothers and sisters in Poland.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Copernicus Lodge for their wonderful care.
The family will receive friends at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St. (east of Keele) on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 5 – 9 p.m., with Vigil Prayers at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Stanislaus Church (12 Denison Ave.) Interment to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. In Memoriam donations may be made to Copernicus Lodge Foundation or Alzheimer Society. "
