Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Grant Reginald Mickolwin on April 22, 2023, at the age of 69. After a short battle with cancer, he died peacefully surrounded by his family at the hospital.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Mickolwin; son, Matthew Mickolwin & their prospective partners, as well as his ex-wife, Rosita D'Alessandro and his 4 grandchildren; Bailey, Taylor, Sydney and Raine Averill.
Grant is predeceased by his daughter Cynthia Mickolwin Averill and his parents Reginald & Patricia Mickolwin.
He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren, his siblings David (Maureen), Anne (Frank), Wendy (George) and Sandra (Ron), his aunt Evelyn and many nieces and nephews. He will stay forever in the hearts of his family and many lifelong friends.
He grew up in The Junction neighbourhood of Toronto and had an infinity for all Toronto sports teams, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. We will be rooting for both teams to win their prospective championships in 2023, through Grant’s passion for them.
He loved astronomy, playing the guitar and watching his favourite shows like Star Trek and M*A*S*H. He loved working with his hands and building anything, especially model cars.
He drove trucks for most of his life. First tow trucks and then transport trucks. From this job, he was able to travel and explore all over Canada and the US, sometimes taking his son with him to share in his adventures.
Although he is no longer with us in life, Grant will remain in his loved one's hearts. Rest in peace, Grant.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating in Grant's honour to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Red Cross (who we’re grateful for helping Grant when he was in crisis last year.)
