In loving memory: Jacques LeBlanc 1958-2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Jacques LeBlanc (Jaq) on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 at his home in Toronto. Born in Ste-Marie,New Brunswick,Jaq was the son of Ulysse LeBlanc and Marie-Paule LeBlanc, deceased.
Although confronted ,relatively early in life, with significant physical challenges, Jaq lived a full and independent life with incredible strength and courage. Never feeling sorry for himself, Jaq was, instead, a strong advocate and supporter for other persons facing similar challenges. This involved extensive volunteer work, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Centre for Independent Living of Toronto for several years(4 years as Director/Chair). Before his retirement he worked many years as an Editorial Assistant, Sports, for the Toronto Star newspaper.
Jaq's enjoyment of life included time spent with family and friends and participation in several baseball and football pools (where he was often quite successful). He also had a great love for the arts, and especially music ,with artists like The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen being among his favourites. He was also a long time ,devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers.
Jaq will be sadly missed by his wife, Jeanvabe LeBlanc, and his brothers, Rickey(Rose-Mai) in Dieppe,Rene (Kim) in Ste-Marie and Pierre(Nicole) in Bouctouche, and by his nephew ,Randy, and his nieces, Carole, Vanessa and Micheline.
Cremation has already occurred and a Funeral Mass will take place at St.Michael's Cathedral Basilica,65 Bond Street, Toronto, at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 7th,2026. Burial will follow in New Brunswick on August 20th, 2026. Details of this may be obtained through the Mailett Funeral Home in Bouctouche, New Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers donations to Jaq's favourite charities, The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation (Children's Orthotics Clinic), the Centre for Independent Living of Toronto and Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Parish of Ste. Marei de Kent, New Brunswick would be greatly appreciated.
