Joao Manuel Da Silva
March 12th 1944 – May 30th 2025
Joao Manuel Da Silva, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away suddenly after a losing battle with cancer on May 30th 2025 on his 82nd year with his wife of over 50 years by his side.
Joao Manuel was predeceased by his parents; Joao Da Silva Simas and Maria Rebelo Simas.
He leaves behind a legacy of love as the cherished husband of Maria Olivete, honoured father of Frank (Mary), Marlene (Eric) and Nelson. Joao Manuel was the proud grandfather to Daniella and Nicholas who both brought him endless joy and was a caring brother to Lizette Cordeiro (and family) and Odete Medeiros (and family). He will be deeply missed by all.
Born in Achada, Sao Miguel in the Acores of Portugal in 1944, Joao lived a full and meaningful life marked by hard work, unwavering love for his family and a deep pride in his religion. He immigrated to Canada in 1970 in pursuit of a better future, bringing with him the values of pride and humility where he built a life rooted in family and devotion.
He will forever be remembered by how his eyes lit up every time he smiled. His presence and his legacy will continue to live on in each of us.
Visitations will be held at Cardinal Funeral Homes-Bathurst on Wednesday June 04th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm – 366 Bathurst St, Toronto
A funeral service will be held at Santa Cruz Parish at 10am on Thursday June 05th - 140 Argyle St, Toronto
Entombment will take place at Prospect Cemetery - 1450 St Clair Ave W, Toronto
All who knew and loved Joao Manuel are welcomed to join the family in a Celebration of Life for lunch afterwards in his honour.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in his loving memory.
