Avô, You are the backbone of our family. Most of all, you are the reason your beloved children and grandchildren have a high standard of living today. For that I most thankful. You made the ultimate selfless sacrifice in moving to Canada, leaving your family behind and coming to a foreign territory. You took on grueling and strenuous labour jobs that most individuals would steer away from in order to provide for your family. For this we are all eternally grateful. Once, establishing your permanent footing in Canada, you secured your children and the generations to come a better future with abundant opportunitis to be successful. The life choices you made truely indicate the type of person you were; you constantly put others before yourself. You were a family man, one whom would provide all his earnings to support his wife and children to ensure the best life possible. You were man of God, an avid church go-er, an active member with St. Mary's parish and always willing to jump at volunteer opportunities. You were the most dedicated Benefica fan, win or loss, you would always have their back. Most of all, to me you were the greatest grandfather anyone could ask for, always spoiling us when we came over with time together, which is the greatest gift in life that we can ever ask for. Time with you: walks to the park and streets of Toronto, Benefica games, an abundance of special snacks, and meaningful gifts are all moments I will always treasure. Everything you did, you did for others. My only wish is I could exemplify this selfless attitude in life half as good as you did here on Earth. You are a role model for me and others who were lucky enough to know you. The world lost a soul we could surely use a lot more of. I will miss you Avô. Rest peacefully in Heaven.
