Obituary

Joseph Paul O’Toole passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brampton, Ontario, Joseph was raised in Etobicoke by his late parents, Christopher O’Toole and Eileen Godkin, from Wicklow Town, Ireland.

In 1988, Joseph married the love of his life, Orsolya Heim, with whom he shared over 35 years. Together they raised four children—Petra, Liam, Keenan, and Josette—who were the pride and joy of his life.

He will be missed by his siblings: Bridget (Mick), Esther (Andy), Eileen, Chris (Caroline), and the late Vera, along with their children.

Joseph will also be remembered by his in-laws Dr. Hilda Donhoffer and Dr. Tibor Heim (predeceased), as well as his sisters-in-law Lucia (Peter), Karla (Peter) and Angelika (Cam), as well as his many nieces and nephews.

In his youth, Joseph was a gifted athlete who excelled in every sport he tried, and he was a proud player for the Toronto Marlies and OHA. His love for the game never faded—he remained a passionate Toronto sports fan throughout his life, never missing a match and always cheering wholeheartedly, whether from his armchair or among friends.

Joseph began his career in sales at the age of nine, selling records at his father's Carlton Show Band concerts. He later found his stride in the automotive world, becoming the number one Suzuki salesman in Canada. He spent many years as a financial manager at Classic Honda in Brampton, where he was known for his wit, tenacity and fierce loyalty.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to Reconnect Community Health Services, whose support meant so much to him and his family in recent years.

A service to honour Joseph’s life will be held on April 14 at 11am at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish (3055 Bloor St W, Etobicoke, ON)
