Obituary

Manuel Goncalves, born on July 20, 1932, in Castelo Lindoso, Ponte da Barca, Portugal, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was the beloved partner of Rosa Teresa Rodrigues and a devoted father and father-in-law to Maria, Jorge, Jose, and Christine.

Manuel was a proud and adored Vozinho to Daniela, David, Karina, and Kayla, and a loving great-grandfather to Mateo and Bia. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he touched over the years.

Manuel had a deep passion for Portuguese folklore music ‘rancho folclorico’. A devoted Sporting Clube de Portugal supporter, he rarely missed a soccer match. He also enjoyed playing cards and was an exceptionally talented carpenter. Manuel became especially well known for crafting beautiful handmade castanholas (castanets), receiving requests from different parts of the world for his custom creations.

His voice was as big and vibrant as his spirit and his love for life. Manuel will be remembered for his talent, his laughter, and the deep love he had for his family and community. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
