Obituary
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manuel Tomas on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the age of 76. Manuel passed away peacefully with his family by his side and will be forever remembered for his kindness, generosity and sense of humour.
A devoted husband and father, Manuel will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Teresa, and children Valerie (Ryan) and Kevin (Vanessa). Manuel was a proud grandfather to Tessa, Kaiden and Mariah and they will always remember their beloved Avô.
Manuel was loved by many. He will also be missed by his brother, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends who have become like family.
Manuel and Teresa immigrated to Canada from Portugal in 1973 and worked very hard to create a loving home. Manuel was a man of many unique passions – he mastered the art of carpentry (along with many other trades), loved spending time watching his Benfica Soccer Club, bred award-winning pigeons and is known for walking around St. Clarens to see what’s going on. They say it takes a village and Manuel was part of a village that raised and supported many children (now adults) in the community.
The world was a better place because of Manuel, and his legacy will live on for generations to come.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Mount Sinai for their care of Manuel. They would also like to thank their family, friends and neighbours for their support during this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation be made to The ALS Society or The Sinai Health Foundation
