Obituary

Bob left this world too soon, on the morning of November 15th at Princess Margaret Hospital’s Hospice, surrounded by family, after a fierce and tireless battle with oral cancer. His strength throughout his journey was a testament to his remarkable character, resilience, and the kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Bob was a creative, adventurous soul with a heart full of compassion. Despite the challenges of his illness, he radiated warmth and positivity, making those around him feel valued and loved. His extraordinary ability to see the good in others and his unwavering support left a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.

Uncle Bob was a cornerstone of his family and leaves behind a profound legacy of love and care. He is survived by his beloved nieces Nicole, Shauna, Allison, Eleni, Michaela, and Chance; his great-nieces Ariel, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Alanis, and Amelia; and his brothers and sister, Wilfred (Pat), Diane, Jim, and Bill (Jane). Universally cherished by his friends, colleagues, employees, and, most importantly, his family, Bob's influence on his loved ones was immeasurable, ensuring each felt uniquely supported and deeply loved.

To those who knew him closely, Bob was more than an uncle—he was a guardian angel, a best friend, and a guiding force. He shared in every chapter of his loved ones' lives, celebrating their triumphs, standing by them during challenges, and inspiring them to grow into their best selves. His unwavering presence, wisdom, and boundless love were gifts that will forever be cherished.

As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary person he was. Bob’s strength over the past two years was nothing short of heroic, showing us all what it means to fight with grace and courage. While the pain of his absence is immense, we take comfort in knowing he is now free from suffering and at peace.

Bob brought light and laughter wherever he went. His rare gift for making others smile, even in the darkest moments, was a hallmark of his kind and vibrant spirit. His memory will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved so deeply.

Rest peacefully, Uncle Bob. You will always be missed, but your spirit will forever guide and comfort us.

We invite friends and family to celebrate Bob’s life at an Irish Wake on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 1–4 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 344 (1395 Lake Shore Blvd W, Toronto, ON, M6K 3C1).

Bob Stewart was a funny, friendly and flamboyant Toastmaster who lighted up any room and any meeting he was in. I didn’t have the pleasure of being in the same TM club with Bob. But he definitely left ann impression in the handful of Toastmasters Contests I encountered with him. I still remembered a table topic speech he shared about buying the biggest toy / plush animal doll for his niece so that he would be the best Uncle Bob!!! His gesture. His voice. My sincere condolences with the family. p.s. One additional detail to share. The Toastmasters International charity fund (Named after the founder, Dr. Smedley) is a registered US charity only.
