Obituary

Tom made friends easily and was the master of the witty one-liner that never failed to make us laugh. Sadly, he passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre due to health issues on July 22, 2023. He was 67.

He is survived by two brothers John (Irene), George (Olga), and three sisters Chris, Sophie (Ken) and Helen, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph, and mother, Helen. Tom worked for the family business, Canvas Specialty Company, the airport and Canada Post.

Tom was born February 28, 1956, so adorable as a baby that people wanted to adopt him. He loved cars, kept his vehicles pristine, was interested in aviation mechanics and watched more movies than a film reviewer. He also enjoyed walking, (“I don’t want to be a couch potato,” he’d say), reading daily newspapers at the library and NFL football. Close to six feet tall and perpetually lean, he abhorred the cold and often escaped to the sun and warmth of Mexico for holidays.

Good times for Tom included morning coffee with friends at McDonald’s in his Dufferin Grove neighbourhood, artisanal pizza with relatives at a local restaurant, watching their hero quarterback Doug Flutie tapes with his sister, and relaxing with his older brothers at the cottage. A memorial service for Tom will be held at a later date.
