Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Victor Emanuel Da Ponte Ambrosio announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.  He was 82 years old.

Victor was born in São Miguel, Açores on May 1, 1940 to his parents Manuel and Celestina.  He was the youngest of 12 children and raised by a devoted family.  He immigrated to Toronto where he met his loving wife, Aida and married in 1966.  They welcomed three children into their family.  Professionally, Victor worked his way up from assembly-line worker to general foreman at Inglis Appliances Ltd.  Later in life, he struggled with COPD and heart disease but did everything in his will to exercise and be active daily.  He will be remembered as a dear husband, father, brother and uncle, who built a good life for his family and always with an active mind, full of an endless list of incredible talents and ideas.

Victor will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Aida; children Lucy (Henry), Susanne (Simon), Illian (Šárka), 6 grandchildren, Logan, Landon, Hannah, Nicole, Morgan and Angelo; sisters Honorina, Celestina and numerous other family members and friends.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 3:00 - 8:00pm, at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street in Toronto, Ontario.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 9:45am at St. Mary’s Parish, 588 Adelaide Street West, in Toronto, Ontario.  An interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery off of Kitchener Avenue and Caledonia Park Road.  Guests who are not able to attend may participate in a livestream of the visitation or view a recording of the funeral mass at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Victor to The Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
