Peacefully on June 19th, at the Island Lodge, Ottawa, in his 93rd year. Originally from Toronto, but also resided in Peterborough and Ottawa. Beloved husband of the late Winnifred (nÚe Hyde) of Toronto. Father of twin sons Bill (and Marlene nÚe Holden, predeceased) of Whitby and Jim of Chelsea, Que., daughters Gail Burgess (Milford "Red" Thomas, predeceased) of Metcalfe and Linda Ingram (nÚe Burgess) of Ajax. Grandfather of David Burgess of Ottawa, Debbie McNeely (Cory Mikkelsen) of Calgary, Alberta, Sean (Joanna) Ingram of Ajax, Todd Burgess of Toronto and Joel Burgess of Guelph. Great grandfather of Maddy Ingram and Kate Mikkelsen. Eldest of eight siblings: Sidney Burgess, predeceased of Toronto, Mary (Herb) McEachern of Acton, Anne (Jeff) Brook of Toronto, Dorothy, predeceased (Vic) Swindlehurst of Acton, Charlie, predeceased (Pat) Burgess of Chatham, Rhea (Red) Johnson of Toronto, and Frank (Zetta) Burgess of Chatham. Internment in the Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario. A memorial service will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the very caring palliative care staff at the Island Lodge.
