Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a fighter. William Marc Elik, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 93, after a short stay at Credit Valley Hospital. Known for his tenacity and his unwillingness to give up, even in the most difficult times, as well as his sharp intellect and endless knowledge, Willy will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on June 8, 1932, in Sheridan, Manitoba to William Elik (Gigi) and Jesse Pekar (Bubba), Will was one of four competitive brothers: Peter, Boris and Michael, all deceased. He grew up in northern Ontario and was a skilled hockey player until an unfortunate accident resulting in a broken neck ended his athletic career. Will persevered, however, with a strength and courage his family and friends greatly admired.
With former wife Sheila, Willy raised three children, Billy, Sandra and Todd. The family was devastated with the loss of Sandra to a car accident at a young age.
Though never coached by their dad, Billy and Todd were profoundly influenced by Willy’s unwavering support and example of determination throughout their storied hockey careers.
Will leaves behind six grandchildren: Michael, Wil, Renee, Marlena, Vanessa and Jacob.

Billy and Todd and families, so sorry for your loss. Willie was a strong and resilient man. He will be deeply missed and he is now at peace with his family and enjoying all their normal fun activities they did. Thoughts and prayers with you all during this difficult time.

Love you uncle Willie, its been a long time since I've last seen you. You will be missed so much by all of us, you finally get to rest up there with your brothers and hopefully Gigi and Doug are waiting for you with open arms, Love you uncle Willie.

It’s a bittersweet moment, missing Uncle Willie terribly yet so happy he is free from his body, reunited with Sandra and his 3 brothers…..I’m sure Mike and Bo have already sat him at the best fishing pond heaven has to offer…..and Pete has the Scotch poured with his name on it.
Billy and Todd, stay strong, be happy for him. Love you guys❤️

Uncle Willy and Peter (my Gigi) lived together when I was young so when we went to visit Gigi we would get to spend time with uncle Willy who always let me drive his scooter around (terribly) and never got mad at me when I bumped into everything. He was always so funny and kind. I was young when my Gigi passed and I was always so thankful Uncle Willy for a long time left the outgoing message as my Gigi so I could still hear his voice. Willy is loved by all the Elik’s around the global and will be greatly missed
