Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce our father's passing, after a brief illness, on September 5, 2006 in his 85th year, at Trillium Health Centre. He was a loving and caring husband of 63 years to his beloved wife Anna, father to Michael (Carolyn) and friend to all that he encountered. Our father lived a long and challenging life having been separated from his beloved homeland and his parents. He was born in the village of Strilcze in Western Ukraine, in 1922. He came to Canada in the late 1940's to start a new life and to ensure a free and better life for his family after the devastations of the war. He died, as he lived, loved by his family and the many who knew him. Visitations will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St. on Thursday, September 7, between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Panachyda will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre, 60 Richview Road, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, with interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery following. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nursing staff at Trillium Health Centre for the excellent care and kindness provided throughout the period of the illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ukrainian Social Services (Alzheimer's Fund) or the Trillium Health Centre Foundation. "
