Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Adelaide Cunha on April 6, 2025, at the age of 94.
Beloved wife of the late Felix Cunha (2000), Adelaide was a devoted and loving mother to Antonio (divorced), Perpétua (late Miguel), and Georgina (late Artur). Cherished grandmother of Antonio Jose (T.J.) and Patricia (Trish), Luis, the late Davy, and Rita. Adelaide was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Gustavo, Isaac, Lourenço, Michael, Dylan, Tyler, Noah, and Catherine.
Born in Portugal, Adelaide immigrated to Canada, around the late 1950s to join her husband.Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and faith. She retired from McGregor Hosiery Mills and was known for her strength, kindness, and deep devotion to her Catholic faith. Her rosary was never far from her hand, and she could often be found in quiet prayer, knitting or crocheting with love and care.
Her family will forever treasure the delicious meals she prepared, her playful Portuguese rhymes, and the traditional songs she used to sing. She had a love for dancing and always carried a deep pride in her Portuguese roots, even while embracing Canada as her home. Her summers in Portugal brought her great joy, and in accordance with her wishes, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Felix in their homeland.
Adelaide spent her final years in the loving care of her daughter Georgina, with whom she lived for over 15 years. Honouring her mother’s final wishes, Georgina took on the responsibility of organizing the funeral arrangements and ensuring that Adelaide could be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Portugal.
Her legacy lives on in the hands and hearts of those who truly loved and stood by her.
