Obituary
Shulhan, Ahafia Helen – After a sudden illness Ahafia passed away peacefully, in her 94th year, on Monday, November 14th with her family by her side. After 60 years of marriage, she was predeceased by her loving husband Wasyl (2014). Loving mother of Irka Cushing and her husband George and Ola Kolodij and her husband Pawlo. Cherished Baba to Andrea Davie (Steven), Alex Zurba, Odarka Cruz (Raymond), Sonya Kolodij (Isac) and Olena Kolodij (Don). Loving great-grandmother to Emma Davie and Isabella & Josephine Cruz. She will also be forever loved and missed by her family and friends in Ukraine. Ahafia came to Canada in the early 1950’s. She was the eldest of 7 Children. She was a very strong woman who was faithful, loving and caring. She is remembered for always putting the needs of others ahead of her own and was ever so grateful and appreciative of all life's blessings. Ahafia loved to sing and, more importantly, loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional loving care given by Pani Hanya, Pani Steffa and Pani Olya to Ahafia in the comfort of her own home. Friends and family are invited to gather at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St. (east of Keele), on Thursday, November 17th, for visitation from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. with Panachyda beginning at 8 p.m. Divine Liturgy to be held on Friday November 18th at 10 a.m. at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection (30 Leeds St.) with interment to follow at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville.
