Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Candida Gulilemina Cangueiro, at
the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. Candida is now with her beloved husband, José,
and her cherished daughter, Maria Alice Póvoa, reunited in eternal peace.
Candida was a devoted mother, avo, and bis-avo, remembered for her resilience, warmth, and
deep love for her family.
She leaves behind her loving son-in-law, Firmino Póvoa, who cared for her with devotion in her
final years. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Christina (Armando) and David
(Lisa), and her great-grandchildren: Gianluca, Alessia, Ignazio, Ethan, and Hannah.
Candida’s memory will be cherished both in Canada, and in her beloved hometown of Sendim,
Portugal, where her life began.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate teams at St.
Michael’s Hospital and Kensington Health Hospice for the care, support, and dignity they
provided to Candida during her final days.
Candida leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, and family — forever in our hearts.
