Obituary

In Loving Memory of Carmen Gomez September 24, 1936 – August 31, 2025

With deep sorrow and heartfelt love, we announce the peaceful passing of Carmen Gomez on August 31, 2025.

Born on September 24, 1936, in Muntian, Cartelle, in the province of Ourense, Spain, Carmen was the cherished daughter of Jose Estevez and Hortensia Bernardez. One of five sisters, she spent her early years in the village of Espinoso, surrounded by family and tradition.

Carmen met the love of her life, Pedro Gomez (predeceased), during a joyful celebration at the “Fiesta de la Virgen del Cristal” in Vilanova, Celanova. Their journey together took them first to Montreux, Switzerland, where they were married, and eventually to Toronto, Canada, where they built a loving home and life together.

A woman of deep faith, Carmen was a devoted and active member of St. Peter’s Church, where she found great joy and purpose in her spiritual community.

Carmen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Mari (Mary Carmen), her beloved grandchildren Ana, Daniel (Adriana), Nivia, Angel Pedro, and her precious great-granddaughter Mikaela. She will also be deeply missed by her sisters Maria, Araceli (Antonio), and Hortensia (the late Manuel), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She is reunited in peace with her sister Nieves and her beloved husband Pedro.

Carmen’s strength, and unwavering love for her family and faith will remain in our hearts forever.

The family kindly invites you to share your memories and condolences here, offering comfort and support during this difficult time. If desired, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society.

A memorial mass to celebrate Carmen’s life will be held at St. Peter’s Church:
