Obituary

It it with deep sadness that we share the passing of Evangelina Furtado {maiden name Cabral) on October 10th, 2022 at the age of 99.

Evangelina was a kind, loving and vivacious soul. She lived independently until the age of 98 and could be found helping neighbours and friends who could not otherwise help themselves. She took great pride in her independence and her ability to help others.

She had a great sense and love of fashion, bright colours and high heeled shoes (even at 98!)

God called Evangelina peacefully to heaven to be reunited with her late loving husband Joao Furtado.

She will be forever missed by her Son Manuel {Elvira), Grandchildren Nelson (Sandra), Jennifer {Mike),

Great-grandchildren Alyssa, Amanda, Ashley, Lukas & Kaitlyn

She will be held dear in the hearts of all of her family and friends. May she now rest in eternal peace.

We would also like to express our thanks to the team of Nurses, Support Workers and Doctors at Castleview Wynchwood Nursing home for the affection and care that they provided in this last year of her life. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Elena Oliveira-Cole
Deepest sympathies, from Elena Oliveira-Cole and family. Tia was a strong and independent woman. She had a love for life, and she lived it her way despite the obstacles she had earlier in life. She was always proud of her son and grandchildren, and I'm happy found love, too. I will always remember her smile and having a glass of wine with Tia when we visited. RIP Tia!

Dear Manuel and family. May God and his Angels comfort you all at this time and the many years to come. We remember Evangelina use to travel to visit her sister Inez Cabral de Oliveira often with her brother Herman and sometimes by herself by train. It is so nice to read she helped many others in need even in her old age. May God give her eternal rest and love on His Kingdom with Our Lord Jesus and Our Lady who we celebrate today for the Miracle of the Sun!

Tony & Mom (Ines Cabral De Oliveira)
Dear Manuel and family, our condolences to you all. Our prayers are with you at this trying time. What a great long life she enjoyed in good health. I would often tell my friends how my aunt was still living independently in Toronto at the age of 90+ and that she still wore her high heeled shoes. Mom (Ines) sends her love and condolences. She would often tell us stories about her childhood and growing up in the Acores and how proud she was of her older sister. Love Ines, Antonio, Victor, Jeffrey and Steven.

Dear Manuel and family, Thinking of you all during this difficult time and I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you all. What a lovely obituary. Tia was an incredible women and I have such fond memories of her. She was a strong and independent woman; something I loved dearly about her. As we get older we lose that independence, but it sounds like she hung on to hers till the end. Tia...may God keep you safe under His wing as you move from this life to a beautiful eternal life! To her family...may you soon find peace and comfort as you think back on all the fond memories you have created all these long years. Love, Teresa (Oliveira), Paul, Halie & Hayden Gdanski (Wdsk, ON)
