Obituary

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Gilda Costa announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Thursday, December 26, 2024 surrounded by loving family at Kensington Hospice at the age of 101.

She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Manuel Da Costa. Loving mother to Jose (Ana), the late Manuel (Luisa), Manuela (Manuel) the late Cidalia (Joaquim), and Arnaldo (Belmira).

Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren, Carlos, Rui, Sandra, Julie, Jennifer, Kelly, Jenny, Stephanie, Jason, Scott, Michael, Elizabeth and Andrew. She will be remembered by her 20 great grandchildren, with another on the way.

Born in Rabo de Peixe, Açores, Portugal, to Jose & Maria do Santo Cristo and the sister of Manuel, Maria Da Luz, Maria do Espírito Santo, Urselina, Jose & Odete.

Gilda emigrated to Canada in 1967 with her husband and 5 children seeking new beginnings.

Throughout her life, Gilda maintained a strong faith in God and devotion to her church. Gilda loved to sing, especially limericks and various religious songs. She kept on singing until the very end. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, extended

family, friends and all those that knew her to be a loving, giving and gracious person. She will be missed immensely.
