Obituary
FARAONE, Giovanna (nee D’Agostino) – Giovanna ended her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on June 11, 2011. She passed away at Toronto Western Hospital, in her 80th year, with her two loving daughters, Anna and Maddalen, by her bedside. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Salvatore. Giovanna was the respected mother-in-law of Peter Vaitkus, and proud Nonna of Vianna and Ivanna. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family, and all those she touched as a talented seamstress in Toronto’s fashion district. She was an inspiring example of a devoted mother and hardworking career woman. She was one of the first of her family members to immigrate to Canada from Italy and she paved the way for many others to follow. She enjoyed living in Little Italy where she spent all of her life. We welcome you to share a memory of our beloved mother in the Memory Book.Visitation

Anna,
My sincerest condolences to you as you grieve the loss of your Mom. No doubt you have mixed feelings about her passing, relief that she is finally at peace and no longer suffering, and a sense of sadness that she is no longer physically present to you. May the many memories you have of the events you shared with her bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead. I am sorry that I am unable to be present today.
