Obituary

In loving memory of Mrs. Herminia da Ascencao Rodrigues Correia, her daughter Margaret Correia wishes to announce the passing of her beloved mother on December 6th, 2023.
Herminia, or Sao as she was known, was born in Bombarral, Portugal on May 10th, 1934 to Maria Fuentes & Jose Rodrigues, her parents who had immigrated to Portugal from Luintra, Spain. Herminia immigrated to Toronto, in 1960 having married by proxy Adelino Correia who had already moved to Canada to begin establishing the family to be in their new home.
Herminia leaves behind in addition to her daughter, her extended family of brother, nieces and nephews, and to whom she is known as a great cook and baker. She defined herself and loved people through different celebrations by offering family get togethers  characterized by her enormous gastronomical talent. She was known for stating her mind and being a little tough on the outside. But the closest to her knew she was a loving softie on the inside.
May you find peace and fulfillment in the grand kitchen in the heavens. You will never be forgotten.

Marge, My condolences to you and your family. Your mom was a special lady. My love for Portuguese food started with your mom’s home cooked arroz de marisco. What an honour.
