Obituary

Irena, beloved wife of the late Andrij and cherished Mama, of the late Jura, and of Roman and Lida (Peter), precious grandmother of Andrij/Andrei (Anna), Oleh, Natalia (Jay), Alexandra (Bailey), Nicholas, Lucamyr, and proud great grandmother of Lyla, Owen, Yvette, Jaxson and Jayden, passed ever so peacefully and gently on December 27, 2022, during her nap, in the care of her daughter and caregiver, Luba. With grace, she joined her loving husband, son and parents, Aleksander and Maria Netschypor. She lived a long and storied life, fleeing Lviv, Ukraine as a teenager, with her parents, from the brutal invasion of the Russian Red Army during the 2nd World War. She met her future husband during the war, whereafter they travelled three continents in search of a home and gave birth to each one of her children in each continent. Andrij and Irena settled with their young family in Toronto amidst a supportive Ukrainian community of refugees where lifelong friendships were formed. She nurtured her family with her delicious soups, and Ukrainian meals, her love of laughter and her tenderness. We are grateful to her for her everlasting love, her endearing smile and we will miss her deeply. Thank you to Rada, Irena’s longtime PSW, for her excellent care and Dr. Tim Khodsi, for his vigilant care. Dorohi Lida, Roman, the two Lesias and famliy members. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time. She steadfastly nurtured you all with her tenderness and Ukrainian comfort food. This sustained you to confidently go out in the world and discover your true potentials. She carried this kit of security not once but three times until she and Pan Andriy landed on Canada as the new forever home. And thence the Komorowskies thrived. She knew that as refugees the bundle to pack & carry to safer land was virtual not material and she has left you with many warm and tender memories of joy and laughter together; fully enriched in spirit. I remember her excitement and joy at showing a basket of wild mushrooms or hand picked strawberries. She also was disciplined at calling my mother regularly and cheering up her day. Being caring with people mattered to her. For that I will fondly remember her. Vichnaya Pamyat. Petrus Palijenko & Andrea Mozarivska

Dear Lida, Andrei and family, Sending love with condolences for Mama- Baba. She marks the end of an era of strong, beautiful women that lived a long life and mentored those around them. Pani Irena and her handsome husband are now together again. I used to call Pan Komorowsky «гарний пан» when I was a little girl at Hoverla. Хай спочиває у Бозі! Darka Evtushenko and family
