Obituary

Passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021 at the remarkable age of 98.  Beloved wife of the late Myroslaw and devoted mother to Irene Hordienko (nee Jaremus) and her late husband Alexander.

Ivanna adored her 2 granddaughters (Adrianne and Lily) and doted on her 4  great-grandchildren (Oresta, Renata, Luke and Mark). Ivanna was baba to even her two grandsons-in-law, Adrian Hewryk and John Jakubowsky.  She was also a loving teta to extended family here in Toronto and in Ukraine.

Ivanna’s wit and sharp mind had everyone in awe right up until her last days.  Her generosity and desire to help others in need were a legend.  No one left empty-handed.  Ivanna was so loved by her entire family and loved them back with all her heart.  Her wisdom, wit, loyalty and devotion to faith and family provided a positive role model for the entire family.

Baba Ivanka leaves such an incredible legacy for her granddaughters and all four great-grandchildren.  She lived a long and meaningful life and will be missed by all – but forgotten by none.

Private family internment at St. Volodymyr Cemetery in Oakville.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ivan  Franko Home click here or St. Demetrius Catholic Church click here.

Dear Irene and family, I was sad to hear of the passing of Пані Ivanna Jaremus, your dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. It is a terrible loss of a parent and very important part of your family, no matter under what circumstances and at what age it happens. Although I didn’t know Пані Ivanna, I certainly heard about her in our recent chats. At this time I would like to pass on my condolences to the entire family and assure you that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Вічная Пам’ять.
