Obituary

Surrounded by the love and support of her family, God called Julia Carrabau peacefully on March 22, 2023, at the age of 90. She is now reunited with her Sister Benedita, her beloved parents Amadeu and Rosalia, and her loving mother and father-in-law, Manuel and Augusta. Greatly missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Manuel, and her children Maria (Jim) and John (Lily). Proud Avó to Julia (Yousif), Frank, Madeline and Simon. Bisavó to Gabriel. Julia will always be remembered by her sister, Gloria and held dear in the hearts of her surviving family members in Canada and Portugal and her beloved dog Charlie, who brought her much joy and happiness.

Although Julia loved Canada, her heart belonged to Portugal, where she grew up and gained her strong work ethic and her love for gardening, animals (especially cats and dogs)and the outdoors.

Julia was an amazing cook and baker, and always gave great advice. Her presence is greatly missed and will be forever.

She will be remembered for her courageous, generous heart, contagious laughter, and beautiful smile. Julia was dedicated to her family and her grandchildren and will live on through them.

My deepest condolences to Sr Manuel, Maria and Johnny and family. In my childhood if I wasn’t at home I was at Sra. Julia’s house and she always welcomed me open arms. So many memories of this wonderful wife, mother and friend. Thank you for always welcoming me in your home. Rest in peace. Until we meet again.
