Obituary

Our treasured and greatly beloved Kay Sahan has left us mourning her passing, but we are so deeply grateful and blessed to celebrate a life so beautifully lived for more than 102 years.

Born in 1923 to her parents, Paul and Anna (née Peleshyk) Wayda, in Prusiek, Ukraine, she has left us with an incredibly deep love for her and all that she represented. She fostered in us a love for our Ukrainian culture and a deep appreciation for our family heritage, our ancestors, and the generations who came before us. She also shared with us her love of gardening, birds, nature, music and reading. But most of all, she taught us the meaning of love.

Together with her husband, William (predeceased), she raised Alex (predeceased), Ron (Orysia), and Linda (Dennis) Pelshea. She leaves behind her beloved sister, Mary Klymas, and was predeceased by her siblings, Mike Wayda and Olga Blasko. She was Baba to Odarka (Brian) Lomon and Adrian (Alexa) Sahan; step-grandmother to Kim (Joe) Calamanici and Stephanie Pelshea; great-grandmother to Sofiya and Matthew Lomon; and step-great-grandmother to Hailey Calamanici.

She takes all of our love with her, as we forever keep her love with us.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre in Kay’s honour would be greatly appreciated by her family.

To my dear Sahan family. We are so sorry for your loss of our Aunt Kay. She was a gentle loving wonderful lady and she will be missed desperately. We all have such special memories of her life. I’ll always remember her lovely garden, the front porch where she could be found waiting for us to arrive and all her pets that shared her home and heart! I know she’s in the arms of loved ones now and leaves a wonderful legacy in all of you. Miss you Aunt Kay, love from Debbie Derbach and family.
