Obituary
Maria Alda Mendonça, 81 years old, passed away peacefully at Toronto Western Hospital on January 10, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Beloved wife of Francisco Mendonça. Dear and loving mother to Maria (Carlos) and Rui (Libby). Cherished grandmother to Christopher, Adam, Aaron, and Emma. Predeceased by her parents, all her brothers and sisters, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Loving sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. Maria Alda came to Canada with her children in 1974 to join her husband. She lived and worked in Toronto for many years until retiring in Graciosa, Azores in 1997, and coming back to Toronto to be with her family in 2014. She was a caring and loving woman to family, friends, and everyone she met. She will be forever in our hearts and dearly missed.
