Obituary

Maria De Conceicao Linhares, age 90, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.

She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Linhares and a devoted mother to Vera (Tony) Peixoto, Jose (Paula) De Frias, Joao Paulo (Kim) Frias Linhares, and Ricardo Linhares. She was a cherished grandmother to Bruno (Sabrina), Ricardo, Brian, Prekita, Marcus (Chelsea), Monica, Gerald (Courtney), Kyle, and Aaron, and a loving great-grandmother to Adrianna, Amelia, and Morgan.

Maria was the daughter of the late Maria do Carmo (Furtado) and Jose Antonio Frias. She was the sister of Ivelia and was predeceased by her siblings Libania, Maria, Agueda, Joao, Jose, Luis, and Zacarias. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and her godchild.

Born in Ribeira Quente, São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Maria immigrated to Canada in 1986, where she built a life surrounded by family and loved ones.
