In Loving Memory of Maria Helena Martins Henriques Bartolo

Maria Helena Martins Henriques, born on February 27, 1938, in Travanca, Bodiosa, Portugal, to Julieta Rodrigues Martins and Armando Henriques Martins, peacefully passed away on Dec 15 2023 She was 85 years old.

Helena devoted her life to her family, cherishing her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. On February 11, 1962, at the age of 23, she married Manuel Loureiro Marques Bartolo, a man she had known since birth. Together, they built a life filled with love and enduring commitment.

Known for her unwavering dedication to family, Helena’s world revolved around the well-being of her loved ones. She had a special fondness for children, especially her grandchildren, and she would drop everything to be there for her family in times of need.

Faith played a significant role in Helena’s life, guiding her actions and providing strength during difficult times. Her deep-rooted belief was evident in the compassion she showed others, regularly visiting the sick and spending time with friends in care homes.

A hardworking individual, Helena worked hard dedicating herself to her profession until her late 70s. She took pride in her appearance and was a great cook, leaving a legacy of delicious meals that brought joy to family gatherings.

Helena’s kindness extended beyond her immediate circle, as she built many lasting friendships throughout her life. Her caring nature and generosity were exemplified by her involvement in numerous charitable activities; she donated to various causes every year, always expressing gratitude for the blessings in her life.

Helena is survived by her husband Manuel Bartolo, son Tony (Tomane) Bartolo, and daughter, Elizabeth (Betinha) Rego. Elizabeth's children, Melissa Rego and Tyler Rego, and Tony's children, Adam Bartolo and Stephanie Bartolo, fondly remember their grandmother. Stephanie's daughter, Violete, represents yet another generation touched by Helena’s enduring spirit.

Despite facing health challenges, Helena remained resilient and continued to contribute to the happiness of those around her. Her strength, grace, and selflessness made her a beautiful soul, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Maria Helena Martins Henriques will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the love, warmth, and compassion she shared with the world.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
