Obituary

Passed away on her 78th birthday April 28, 2009, surrounded by family and friends after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Isabel left this earth with the same grace and dignity she lived her life. She will be forever remembered for her love of family and nature, her devotion to her faith, her enthusiasm for all sports (with a special spot in her heart for the Leafs). Her adventurous spirit took her to all corners of the globe. Isabel was born in S. Miguel, Acores and together with her late husband David came to Canada over 50 years ago to begin a new life. She is survived by her loving daughter Laudalina (Eddy, her support and companion throughout treatment); daughter Lucy (Ed) of BC. A loving grandmother to Christian (Danielle), Justin, Graeme, Connor and Gabrielle, and great- grandmother to the light of her life Rory. Her volunteer work with St. Christopher House brought her much joy and friendship and provided her the opportunity to give back to her community and fulfill one of her many passions through theatre. The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and caring of the nurses and staff at Princess Margaret Hospital and Toronto Grace Hospital, with thanks to Dr. Hedley and Dr. Korut. Visitation at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst St. Thursday April 30 and Friday May 1, 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Joan of Arc Church (1701 Bloor St. W.), Saturday May 2 at noon. Final rest at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation gratefully accepted"
