Obituary

September 15, 1936 - May 7, 2024

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing on May 7 of Olha Baran, our loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Olha was born in Polonna, Ukraine on September 15, 1936. During the war, her family was relocated to Poland. She completed a teaching program and then in 1959 followed her dreams to Montreal where she joined her sister. There she met Taras Baran where they married and had their only daughter, Daria. In 1976 the family moved to Toronto where she found happiness with a wide circle of friends and the large Ukrainian community.

She was a devoted member of St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church and was very proud of her heritage and culture. Olha is predeceased by her husband, Taras, is survived by her loving daughter Daria (Darryl), grandchildren Mateyko and Cassandra, her sister Olenka, her nieces Myrosia and Hania and extended family in Canada, Poland and Australia.

Donations to a Ukrainian Relief Fund would be appreciated by the family.
