Obituary

Thelma Victoria Vaz was born on February 12, 1937, in Kingston, Jamaica. It is with heavy hearts that we announce Thelma’s passing on April 22, 2026. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones.

She was the beloved partner of Mellis Vaz, with whom she spent many cherished years raising a family and exploring the world. Adored mother of Lisa (deceased) and Theresa, and loved mother-in-law of Dave, as well as the much-admired grandmother of Leah.

Thelma was a devoted member of her family, and her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be remembered for her caring, generous nature, her intelligent sense of humour, her love of dancing, and the kindness she extended to all, including our four-legged friends. We are grateful for the memories, love, and laughter Thelma brought into our lives.

To celebrate Thelma’s life, she would love nothing more than to be remembered fondly whenever you find yourself dancing to music that brings you joy. Rest in peace, Thelma. You were a much-loved and remarkable person, and you will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto or the Toronto Humane Society are appreciated.
