Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia Medeiros, on September 11, 2026 at the age of 88. Virginia passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Virginia was predeceased by her devoted husband, José Júlio and by her beloved son, Victor.

She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter, Susan; her daughter-in-law, Cathy (Victor); her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Victoria, Daniel, and Skye (Joseph); and her beloved grand-dog, Pablo. She was also a treasured sister, aunt, and godmother to many.

Virginia was known for her kind and gentle nature, her sweet disposition, and her readiness to help anyone in need. She greeted everyone with a warm smile and a generous heart. Her unwavering devotion to family, friends, and faith was evident in everything she did.

Born in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Virginia immigrated to Canada in 1958 to join her beloved husband, José Júlio. Together they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, family, and service to others. Virginia and José were instrumental in supporting many family members as they began their new lives in Canada, offering guidance, generosity, and a welcoming home.

A devoted Catholic, Virginia proudly served as the housekeeper of the parish house at Our Lady of Lourdes Church for over 54 years. She was a cherished member of the church community and was well known to the many Jesuit priests who lived and served there over the decades. Through her hard work, kindness, and quiet devotion, she formed lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless parishioners, clergy, and visitors alike.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy of kindness, compassion, generosity, and faith will live on in the countless lives she touched.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.
