BREE LYN TIFFIN August 12, 1974 - November 3, 2024

Bree Lyn Tiffin left this world reluctantly, early Sunday morning, November 3rd at Kensington House Hospice. There was so much more she wanted to accomplish. Leiomyosarcoma extinguished a bright light, a free spirit, a loving daughter/sister, a great friend and vibrant, genuine human.

Born in Prince Albert on August 12, 1974, Bree, a first born child, felt she had to be responsible, organized and ambitious. She often teased her brother that she paved the way for his "easy ride".

Bree was funny, witty, with a crazy off the wall sense of humor that sometimes got her in trouble. When applying for Journalism school her interviewer wondered where the name Bree came from. She quipped, "Oh, my parents named me after a prostitute." (It's true! We loved the name of Jane Fonda's character in Klute) When the interviewer didn't crack a smile Bree was convinced she had blown her chances.

Her first job in TV was with Utopia Cafe in Regina; then a plum internship with Discovery Channel in Toronto, which resulted in a job offer. Always a prairie girl at heart, she packed her bags, leaving the "land of the living skies" behind and headed off to the big city in her Honda Prelude.

Bree's determination, attention to detail and work ethic resulted in her becoming an Emmy nominated senior media executive and innovative content producer. Among her many successes (Late Night Eats, Vintage Tech Hunters, History in the Making, Custom Built, Disaster Decks, Rude: Where Are Our Manners) she's especially known for Beyond Corner Gas: Tales from Dog River (2005), Decked Out (2011) and Property Brothers Forever Home (2019).

In spite of the continuous rounds of drugs, chemo, radiation and endless appointments, Bree focused on positivity and gratitude. She was unfailingly kind and appreciative to everyone. She ate healthily, walked regularly, (especially cherishing time at the beaches), journaled, meditated and took art therapy classes online. Her aim was to get back to the job she loved at Scott Brothers Entertainment, to spend quality time with her family and friends and to grow old gracefully.

Bree was given a painting several years ago with the caption, "Sassy, classy and a bit smart assy!" That's our Bree in a nutshell!

Bree will forever be in the hearts of her parents, Rick and Aileen Tiffin (Prince Albert Sk.), her brother Shawn (Ottawa), her favorite aunt, Anne BaYin (friend Geordie, Montreal). We truly cannot grasp life without her.

Also mourning her passing; her wonderfully supportive friend of 35 years Rob Lokinger (Suzanne), Elizabeth St.Philip (George), her "sister" for 25 years and newly found friend Susan Yoon; her lovely aunt Charlene Horseman (Garnet, Ft.Qu'Appelle), uncles Ian Logie (Delta, BC) Dennis Tiffin (Salt Spring Isl. BC) Gary Tiffin (Donna Saskatoon, Sk.) and many more friends, co-workers and cousins.

Bree considered herself fortunate to be under the capable, compassionate care of Dr. Abdul Razak, Maddy Phillips and Dr. Harleen Toor at PM/Mt.Sinai hospitals and more recently Dr. Ciara Whelan. Thank you all.

Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 30th at 1:30 pm at the Cardinal Funeral Home - Bathurst Chapel (366 Bathurst St.) with Rev. Nora Vedress (Prince Albert, Sk.) officiating.

Dear Aileen, Rick, Shawn, Anne, Rob and Elizabeth and the whole family. I became very good friends with Bree when we both moved to Toronto in the late 90s. I met her through a Saskatoon friend where I live now, when we were both embarking on our journalism careers as two Sask girls in the big city. We clicked immediately. She helped me get an internship at Discovery channel, and we later lived just a couple blocks from each other on Queen St W. Not only did she keep me laughing at all the silly things we noticed living in Toronto and in our crazy media business, but she also became a friend that you can always count on. She would grab you the cold medicine on her way over when you weren't feeling great, check on you when she knew you had a bad day at work. She spoke a lot of you all, with her funny stories but also with so much love. I moved back to Sask over a decade ago and we stayed in touch less. But she has always been one of the most genuine friends I have had. She was so loyal and a bright light in my life for so many years I lived in Toronto. I'm so gutted she is not here anymore. But I choose to remember her as a kick ass "Buffy the vampire slayer" friend driving around in her Mini. I loved her very much. My heart goes out to all of you and I hope you find comfort in all the laughs and joy she brought all of us. The ceremony today was beautiful.

Aileen, Rick, Shawn, We are so devastated. So very sorry for your loss and inexplicable grief. Bree's light and beauty are inextinguishable. She is pure prairie light, shining far and wide. Firmly rooted in family. I am so grateful to have her friendship. She always made me feel so at home. And was able to see straight through to the heart of things with humour and meaning. She was a remarkable woman who I will never stop admiring. She took so much interest in everyone around her and saw the very best in her friends. She lifted everyone up. No matter what she was going through, she graced us all with her eye for beauty. She is an exceptional heart, and I am so grateful to know her and your whole family. And to say this in past tense just seems wrong, because I still feel all her generosity. And will carry it forward. Our hearts are with you all.

Been holding off posting a message about beautiful Bree. Guess I was thinking if I didn’t acknowledge it, perhaps it somehow didn’t happen. She was a massive personality in a petite package, overflowing with unsparing generosity, laughter and kindness. Her hugs were mighty and her heart gentle. That generous light will continue to shine in memories of her beaming smile, and sparkling eyes. Jenn and I are fortunate to have been within that periphery of energy and to have called her a dear friend. That closeness also led the way to meeting Rick, Aileen and Shawn, for which we are forever grateful. It’s clear where Bree got her exuberance, humour and graciousness. The Tiffins will always occupy a large part of our hearts. Our deepest condolences go out to all of you. We are so, so heartbroken for you. Rest well, sweet Bree.

I worked with Bree at 21C over 20 years ago. She was a small but feisty firecracker, full of intelligence, banter and charm. She had a gorgeous smile and kind eyes. I remembered being intimidated by how very clever she was and how much she knew. She was beautiful. Kind. Magical. Funny. Honest. I’m so sorry to hear Earth no longer holds her but the heavens won a great one last Sunday. My thoughts to all her family and friends.

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of Bree. To quote Luke Skywalker as I know Bree would apprentice it... “No one’s ever really gone.” I know she made her mark on all those who had the pleasure of working with her, myself included.
